JEPARA, WARTA JAVAINDO| Ketua ALMIJ (Aliansi Lintas Media Indonesia Jepara) Edi Prasadja menyampaikan pandangan penting mengenai peran strategis media dalam pembangunan. Ia menekankan bahwa media adalah salah satu pilar demokrasi yang sejajar dengan eksekutif, legislatif, dan yudikatif, berperan sebagai penghubung antara pemerintah dan masyarakat.
Peran Media dalam Pembangunan
Edi menjelaskan bahwa peran jurnalis tidak hanya terbatas pada penyampaian informasi, tetapi juga mencakup fungsi pengawasan dan kontrol sosial yang dapat memengaruhi arah kebijakan pemerintah.
“Media bukanlah pengamen, pemeras, atau perusuh, tetapi pejuang kemerdekaan bangsa yang berkontribusi membangun akhlak, budi pekerti, dan peradaban masyarakat”, ujar Edi.
Melalui pemberitaan yang beretika dan berkualitas, media dapat:
1. Mendorong Transparansi Pemerintahan
Media berperan memastikan kebijakan pembangunan dirancang dan dijalankan secara transparan dan akuntabel, baik dalam sektor infrastruktur, ekonomi, maupun sosial.
2. Memperkuat Partisipasi Publik
Jurnalis dapat menjadi jembatan antara masyarakat dan pemerintah, menyuarakan kebutuhan masyarakat, serta mendorong dialog konstruktif mengenai program pembangunan.
3. Menggerakkan Perubahan Sosial
Melalui laporan mendalam, media memiliki kekuatan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran publik tentang isu-isu pembangunan, seperti pendidikan, kesehatan, lingkungan, dan kemiskinan.
Peningkatan Kualitas dan Sinergi Antar Lembaga.
Edi juga menyerukan peningkatan kualitas dan kapasitas jurnalis agar mampu menyajikan karya jurnalistik yang bermutu, mendidik, dan membangun. “Kita harus menjadi jurnalis yang berdedikasi tinggi dan mampu menyuarakan hati nurani masyarakat, menyadarkan pembuat kebijakan untuk merumuskan dan menegakkan aturan dengan adil,” tegasnya.
Selain itu, Edi menyoroti pentingnya sinergitas antar lembaga, baik pemerintah, swasta, maupun media, untuk mewujudkan cita-cita bangsa, yakni masyarakat yang adil dan sejahtera. “Media tidak bisa bekerja sendirian, begitu pula pemerintah. Sinergi ini adalah kunci dalam mendorong pembangunan yang berkelanjutan,” tambahnya.
Tantangan Jurnalis dalam Era Informasi.
Adanya tantangan yang dihadapi jurnalis, seperti tekanan politik, sensor, dan disinformasi. Namun, ia mengingatkan bahwa komitmen pada etika dan integritas jurnalistik harus tetap diutamakan. Pendidikan berkelanjutan dan pelatihan dalam isu-isu kritis seperti hak asasi manusia, lingkungan, dan ketimpangan sosial sangat penting untuk meningkatkan kompetensi jurnalis.
Media sebagai Mitra Pembangunan.
Dalam perannya sebagai pilar demokrasi, jurnalis tidak hanya melaporkan fakta, tetapi juga memiliki tanggung jawab moral untuk mendorong pembangunan yang inklusif. Dengan berita yang akurat dan analisis yang tajam, jurnalis dapat menjadi agen perubahan yang memperkuat pondasi demokrasi dan membangun citra positif bangsa.
“Mari kita berkomitmen untuk menciptakan lingkungan di mana informasi yang tepat dan akurat mengalir bebas. Hanya dengan itu jurnalis dapat menjalankan perannya sebagai pilar demokrasi dan mitra strategis dalam pembangunan,” pungkas Edi.
