Dalam sebuah langkah bersejarah menuju pengakuan global, Ketua DPRD Jepara, Agus Sutisna, secara resmi turut menandatangani dukungan agar seni ukir Jepara diakui sebagai warisan budaya tak benda oleh UNESCO. Penandatanganan ini dilakukan di Pendopo Kartini, Selasa (27/5), dan menjadi simbol kuat kolaborasi lintas lembaga dan negara.

Kehadiran Agus Sutisna bukan hanya sebagai representasi legislatif daerah, melainkan juga sebagai bentuk dukungan penuh terhadap pelestarian warisan budaya lokal yang telah diwariskan turun-temurun. “Kami akan terus membuka ruang bagi para pelestari seni ukir agar upaya ini mendapatkan legitimasi dunia,” tegas Agus.

Acara ini juga dihadiri oleh Duta Besar Bosnia untuk Indonesia, Wakil Ketua MPR RI Lestari Moerdijat, Bupati Jepara Witiarso Utomo, Wakil Bupati Ibnu Hajar, mantan Menteri LHK RI (2014–2019), staf ahli Kementerian Kebudayaan RI, staf khusus Wakil Ketua MPR RI, serta jajaran Forkopimda dan Organisasi Perangkat Daerah (OPD).

Langkah ini menjadi konkret setelah perjuangan panjang yang dipelopori oleh Hadi Prayitno, tokoh pelestari seni ukir Jepara. Dengan kerja keras dan dedikasi komunitas ukir, dukungan resmi dari berbagai pemangku kepentingan akhirnya terwujud dalam bentuk dokumen yang ditandatangani bersama.

Pengakuan UNESCO terhadap warisan budaya tak benda bukanlah proses singkat. Pertama, komunitas budaya lokal harus menunjukkan bahwa tradisi tersebut hidup dan dilestarikan. Kemudian, pemerintah daerah dan pusat menyusun dokumen nominasi yang mencakup sejarah, nilai budaya, serta upaya pelestarian. Setelah itu, dokumen dikirim ke Sekretariat Konvensi 2003 UNESCO untuk dievaluasi oleh para ahli internasional sebelum akhirnya ditetapkan dalam sidang Komite Warisan Budaya Takbenda UNESCO.

Kerja sama Pemkab Jepara dengan Kedutaan Besar Bosnia menjadi langkah strategis, mengingat Bosnia juga memiliki sejarah panjang dalam pelestarian seni dan budaya. Kolaborasi lintas negara ini diharapkan memperkuat posisi ukir Jepara di mata dunia.

Dengan momen ini, Jepara tidak hanya mengukir kayu, tetapi juga sejarah baru—di mana warisan leluhur ditapaki menuju panggung dunia.
