Pendidikan Karakter Jadi Fondasi Utama di Sekolah Dasar, Widodo: “Sekolah Harus Mencetak Anak Berakhlak, Bukan Hanya Cerdas”
GROBOGAN – WARTAJAVAINDO, Pendidikan karakter menjadi pilar penting dalam membentuk generasi masa depan yang tidak hanya unggul dalam akademik, tetapi juga memiliki integritas, etika, dan empati.
Hal ini ditegaskan oleh Widodo, S.Pd.I., pemerhati pendidikan dan praktisi sekolah dasar, dalam keterangannya pada Selasa (25/6/2025).
Menurutnya, saat ini banyak sekolah masih terjebak dalam paradigma lama yang terlalu menekankan pencapaian nilai dan rangking, tanpa memperhatikan pembentukan nilai-nilai dasar seperti kejujuran, tanggung jawab, dan disiplin.
“Anak-anak kita bukan hanya butuh cerdas, tetapi juga harus punya karakter. Sekolah dasar adalah titik awal membentuk kepribadian. Kalau sejak kecil sudah dibiasakan jujur, peduli, dan mandiri, itu akan menjadi bekal kuat saat dewasa,” ungkap Widodo.
Ia mencontohkan sejumlah program yang telah diterapkan di beberapa SD, seperti literasi pagi dengan muatan moral, jadwal piket sebagai bentuk tanggung jawab bersama, hingga kegiatan ‘teman asuh’ yang melatih kepedulian antar siswa.
Lebih lanjut, Widodo menekankan pentingnya peran guru dalam membimbing siswa, bukan sekadar mengajar mata pelajaran, tetapi juga menjadi teladan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.
“Pendidikan karakter itu bukan teori, tapi keteladanan. Guru yang datang tepat waktu, bicara sopan, dan menyelesaikan masalah tanpa emosi, itu jauh lebih efektif daripada seratus jam pelajaran PPKn,” tambahnya.
Widodo juga mendorong agar sekolah dan orang tua bersinergi dalam membangun lingkungan yang kondusif untuk pembentukan karakter. Ia menekankan bahwa perubahan besar hanya bisa dimulai dari hal-hal kecil dan konsisten.
Dalam era yang serba cepat dan digital, tantangan pendidikan karakter memang semakin besar. Namun, bagi Widodo, hal itu bukan alasan untuk menyerah.
“Teknologi boleh maju, tapi nilai moral dan adab tidak boleh mundur. Sekolah dasar harus jadi benteng terakhir sebelum anak-anak kita kehilangan arah,” pungkasnya.
